Busy Day

Hope everyone is having a great day.  Isn't it interesting that
when it is winter we can't wait for warmer weather......
Being as this is the hottest summer I can remember I am
so very ready for cooler weather.......

Anyway back to a more interesting topic - Wool.  I'm planning
some dyeing in the near future...you know ... some
luscious fall shades (I'm already feeling cooler).  So
I was busy picking wool for the dye pot and then the
fun starts.....picking the colors.  I feel like
a little girl getting that much anticipated NEW box of crayons on
Christmas morning. I know you all know what I'm talking about,
don't pretend you don't.

Also, the twins and I would like to hook the Need'l Love Turkey for
this fall and so I'm looking for the perfect fall shades.  Also, later today
I will be listing my sweet peacock hooked mat.  It is a Primitive Betty freebie, and I
almost hope it won't sell.  Oh well, I can always make another.  It worked up in not
time at all.
How sweet is that?  It was a joy to hook.

Tummy is growling, so I best take care of that.....

Wherever you are have a great day.  Be back soon......

Happy Birthday USA

Hope you all have something special planned for
tomorrow.   It will be a quiet day for
me.

Let me bring you up to date.  The Colonial Days Festival in
Volant was a success.  We met so many nice ladies....
some very interested in learning to hook.  It was
a beautiful but  very, very hot...

The week before the show I discovered that my camera was lost
somewhere in my house......  Does that ever happen to any of you?  It
seems to happen to me a lot.  I have looked everywhere and in
the process getting some long overdue cleaning done......still - NO CAMERA.

Haven't done any hooking since the show either, but did do a
little bit of stitching on a sampler I have been working
on for quite a while and might just work on again tomorrow.

Hope you all have a terrific 4th....don't eat too much and
stay safe if you are on the roads.

Oops!

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.  Mine was spent making
slow cooker roast beef tacos - mmm good :), a little stitching on
a sampler started long ago, checking on the blogs I follow and
just staying cool inside.....

My last blog showed pics of two projects I had completed.  One was my design and
the other (I thought) was a Bird in Hand Primitive freebie......
Well, it appears I was mistaken.  I knew I had downloaded
many of Bird in Hands freebies, but I forgot that I
had also downloaded a few of Primitive Betty's.  The sweet crow
design is from Primitive Betty's as well as the peacock
I plan to start this coming week ........
Thanks, Robin for bringing that to my attention.

Have a great evening,
Lonna

Two New Completions

Hi Everyone - What a simply gorgeous day it is here in western PA....
absolutely perfect.  A perfect day for sitting outside
and doing something that you love to do....
like hooking, which is what I plan to do when I finish
this posting.

Here is the completed heart mat.....no name yet.....
When our hooking group met last week, the consensus was for tongues.....
and I am so pleased with the result.

Also, I downloaded some Bird in Hand Primitives freebies.....
I just love her designs.  They are primitive yet with
a sweetness that I so enjoy.  Here is my finished piece......

How cute is he?  For me it can take quite a bit of time when
coming up with a new design......  It was such a treat
to just hook this oh sooo cute design.  All in all, I think it only
took about 6-7 hours of hooking.  It isn't very big, but
I was able to use some scrap wool I had laying
around........  I think I'm going to hook the
Bird in Hand Primitives sweet peacock next.  It reminds me
of the peacocks that you see in so many sampler designs.

Enjoy this wonderful day,
Lonna

My Dilemma

Okay, this is my dilemma.  My newest rug/mat
would more than likely be used on a wall.
So I'm wondering if I should
add some tongues across the bottom.  I think
I would like the tongues
but would like some other opinions.
This was a really quick mat,
and I so enjoyed hooking the background straight
across.  I temporarily attached one of the
tongues just to get an idea of what it would
look like.......  And I like it.
Let me know what you think.....
This one is a little brighter.   It will be for sale at We Three's
booth behind the James Creek Gallery store
for the Colonial Festival in Volant, PA next month.
Volant isn't far from the Ohio border.  So if you are
anywhere in the area stop and check it out.
Kathy Graybill will be there along with
the Treharn furniture makers and Ginger
Cazan redware just to name a few.

I belong to a rughooking group and we will be
meeting next Thursday, so I hope to
have some pics of the (are you ready?)
"Girls Gone Wooled" primitive rug hooking group.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend everyone.

Be back soon,

Lonna

Better Late than Never.....

I know it's been quite a while since my last post.  My life was a little crazy for a
time but is now starting to settle down a bit.  I have been doing a lot of hooking.
I finished the rug I was hooking, Simple Pleasure, and
listed it on Etsy and it sold a few weeks ago.......Yeah!!!!

I also just finished a new mat and will get a picture
posted soon......

It is almost that time again for James Creek's Colonial Festival.  It will
be held on Saturday, June 23 in Volant, PA.  I'm hoping to
get more information.  I will be there with the twins, Karen and Sharon.

Last week the three of us had a hooking day at Sharon's.  It was a perfect day and I
just couldn't resist taking a few pics.  Sharon has a gorgeous place.  We've
spent many days hooking in her yard.  We were busy
hooking for the festival.  Karen is doing a cute chicken which, I think,
is destined to become a pillow.  Sharon loves bee skeeps, so that
is what she is working on.

I'm also posting a picture of my completed rug, Simple Pleasure.  I really enjoyed
hooking it, and now it has found a new home.......

The pattern for Simple Pleasure is available on my Etsy.....check it out.
I will be adding more patterns soon .

I hope wherever you might be that you are
enjoying a day as beautiful as it is here.

Take care,
Lonna

It's Snowing

A lot of snow is pretty common at this time of year in western PA, but not so this year.  We have been enjoying spring-like weather and very, very little snow, and I couldn't be happier.  Although, sometimes it is nice to be snowed in for a day or so, hooking, cooking or just the plain enjoyment of being safe and snug inside.

It's Super Bowl weekend........no as exciting when your favorite team (Steelers) isn't playing.  I will, however, be rooting for the Giants.

As for hooking, got the latest wool samples from the Wool Studio and am waiting for samples from Heavens to Betsy.......Pure eye candy to us hookers.  I've made more progress on my latest rug and will post pictures next week.  I should be able to get quite a bit done on it over the weekend.......
,
Some news!  I have changed my Etsy store's name to We Three Rug Hooking which should be easier for everyone, as it is my business name and the name I used for my website.  I sell my rugs on Etsy as well as patterns, sometimes wool, etc.  Hope you stop and visit.  You can get there by clicking my the Etsy link below.

Enjoy the weekend, don't eat too much.......Oh what the heck, have a great time

Freeform mat completed

Here is a picture of a rather small mat that I just completed.  It measures 11 x 22 and makes a really nice table mat.  It started out with the brown areas.  I really wasn't sure where to go from there.  It is the type of design where you can still set some things on it and not lose sight of what the design really is.  It is also a great way to use up some leftover strips.  It is more muted than it appears on my screen.  I think it is time for a new camera.  Click on My Etsy below where it will be listed soon.  I'm also working on a larger rug for spring and am just giving you a sneak peak.  I started it a while back but have made several changes.....changes in wool, changes in the basic design.....as you can see by all the Xs and drawing changes on the linen.  I hope to get a lot done over the weekend, but then I'm sure you know all about "the best laid plans."
After several changes, I might still be making more.  On my monitor the colors seem a bit brighter than they really are.

What's everybody else working on?  I always find it fun to start something new once the holidays are over and all the decorations are down.

Tomorrow Karen and Sharon (AKA the twins) will be coming to do some hooking and watch The Help.  I hear it is really good.....can't wait.

Have a terrific weekend,

Lonna
