Happy News!

It's a warm but dreary, rainy day here, just perfect for hooking.  Don't you agree?  The good news is that Sophie Snowberry is done and listed for sale on my website http://www.wethreerughooking.com/. Here is the completed pic.  Well almost completed.  Patty (dear little sis) is making her into a pillow.  She would be equally adorable as a wallhanging.  Hmm, I might have to do one myself.

We had the championship midget football games this past Saturday.  Lucas' (my 14-year-old grandson) varsity team won for the sixth straight year.  Logan's (my 11-year-old grandson) JV team unfortunately lost.  Both boys played great and I am very proud of them.  My son hasn't sent pics yet, but when he does I will post them.  Never want to miss an opportunity for brag about my grandchildren.  Tonight my two youngest grandsons play deck hockey, Landon is 5 and the youngest brother of Lucas and Logan, and Brady also 5 years old.  They are just too cute to watch.  What a blessing!

Until we meet again.........

Another beautiful day with lots to do.  Yesterday, my son Jeff came by and put up a new dusk-to-dawn light for me and changed the oil in my lawn tractor.  He is a wonderful son and a very busy one with 3 boys in sports and a working wife.  I admire his generation of husbands and fathers.  With most wives working in this day and age, the men, for the most part, seem to be more involved in the kids and the house.  Personally, I liked growing up in the fifties.  How about you?

Yesterday was dye day here.  I dyed three batches of greens, one of gold and one of Saltbox Red (One of my favorites from Vermont Folk Rugs dye book).  My nails look like I spent 8 hours working in the dirt.  I wear two layers of gloves and still get dye on my hands and around my nails.  Not very attractive, but when I see the result of my labors, it is definitely worth it.  Anyway, here is a pic of my labors. I'm hooking it in an 8.5.  What do you think the chances are that I will

I've noticed lately on Wool Snippits that there is talk about what everyone is hooking in regard to Christmas.  I have been working on a Notforgotten Farm pattern that I received as a gift last Christmas.  I just love Lori Brechlin's designs.  This particular one is A Merry Little Christmas.  What do you think the chances are that it will be done for this Christmas?  Miracles do happen you know.  Well gotta go.  I'm working on several kits right now and I MUST cut grass.  That's one good thing about winter, no grass cutting.

Oh, I almost forgot to send a birthday greeting to my dear friend, Diana.  We have been friends since we were both 4-years-old, a long, long time and that's all you are getting out of me.  Happy Birthday Di!!!

Take care everyone and enjoy the day.

New pattern

What a beautiful fall day this is going to be.  I hope it is a beautiful day wherever you are.  My day is going to consist of dyeing some wool and cutting some grass, which I don't mind doing when the day is sunny.

Today I'm also going to introduce you to our newest design Sophie Snowberry.  My sister Patty and I worked on this together.  She really wanted a Christmas/winter pillow to hook, and this is what we came up with.  She plans on a primitive red background.  Sophie's dress will have a black collar, black stripes, and black buttons.  The dress will be a soft gold.  I will add more pics as she progresses.  I'm sure that Patty's granddaughter Sophie will love it.

I'm so anxious to begin work on the new website.  It will have a new look and more options and new items.  I will keep you posted.  I hope to begin my part sometime next week.  The original We Three website is still available.

Everyone, have a wonderful weekend.

Busy, busy October

Hope you are all enjoying this rather dreary Thursday in October.  If I had posted yesterday, I could have said "this beautiful Wednesday in October."  I so love this time of year.  Even dreary days still have color.  This time of year also makes me hungry for some comfort food.  Well the other day I made a wonderful ham loaf and parmesan scalloped potatoes.  Oh my, how good it was.  The ham loaf recipe is out of a Southern Living cookbook, and it is amazing. I will post the recipe at the end of today's blog.  Oh, they look so good.

It has been a busy October.  Lots of that end-of-summer work to get down, and I have two grandsons who play midget football, one on JV and the other varsity.  That has kept me busy every Saturday since September.  But I love football, and I love to watch them play. Both won their playoff games.  So next Saturday they will each play in a championship game.

It's been busy here at We Three, which is a good thing but doesn't leave much time for designing or hooking.  My sister is coming today and we are going to work on a new design.  I'll keep you posted.

We'll talk soon,
Lonna

Supreme Ham Loaf

1 pound ground cooked ham
1 pound ground fresh pork
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp seasoned pepper (I use McCormick's Pepper Medley)
1 cup cracker crumbs
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 cup whole-berry cranberry sauce (I use Smuckers Cherry Jam/Jelly)

Combine first 7 ingredients; mix well.Shape mixture into a 9 x 5 loaf and place in a lightly greased 12 x 8 x 2" baking dish.

Combine sugar, mustard and vinegar; mix well and spoon half over ham loaf.  Bake at 350 for 1 hour and 20 minutes basting twice with remaining sugar mixture.  Top loaf with cranberry sauce and bake an additional 10 minutes.  Yield:  8 servings.

Rainy Sunday

I'm back. Wasn't sure if I would continue with this blog or not. I think that I over-think what I'm writing and make it more difficult, which in turn can make it stressful. But I am going to give it my best shot and go for it.

It's a dreary rainy day in western PA. I have my coffee and have gone through the Early Work Mercantile, Lemon Poppy Seeds, TDIPT, etc. and found some terrific autumn offerings. Lots of terrific talent on these sites. Now I can look forward to the Steelers game later today. Well, that's what we do on Sundays in this part of the country. We so love our Steelers.

I am also working on a new rug. I will post a picture once I get a little more done. Here's some We Three news. I'm seriously considering redoing my website. I want a more DIY type of site where I can "do it myself." I think I would like being able to update and make changes myself. There will be a mailing list too. The graphics will be new also. Updates will be coming.

Well, I'm off for now to cut some wool as this should be a good hooking day. Wherever you are, enjoy the day.

Can you believe it? Christmas is almost here. Are you ready? If you are like me, you had some terrific ideas for buying, baking, decorating, creating, etc. I hope you all made better progress than I did, and, as usual, I am already making plans for next year and getting an early start.....SURE! Somehow though I always seem to get it all done in the nick of time. Even though it is hectic at this time of year, it is still the best time of year. It's been a very good year for We Three, and I'm believing for an even better year in 2010. Many new ideas are roaming around in my head, and when the excitement of Christmas is over, I'll be ready to go.

Recently, I learned a new (for me) technique to finish my rugs using wool strips and a crochet technique that Karen Kahle (Primitive Spirits) uses. I believe I found it on Primitive Spirits Flickr. I really enjoyed it. It was easy and looks great. Check it out!

I want to thank you all for making this such a wonderful year for We Three. I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. God Bless all of you.

Where did the summer go

I should say what happened to our fall. It was a busy summer for me. I set up my Etsy shop (link to the left) which took quite a while for me. After all, there are limits to my computer expertise.

The shop will include hooked items and other hand-made needle art items, maybe some wool, etc. There will be OOAK (one-of-a-kind) hooked items designed by me that will not be offered as patterns. They will come signed and dated. There will also be We Three designs that have been hooked and will be for sale, possibly some wool, etc. Hope you can stop and visit some time. My next offering will be the Log Cabin mat pictured above. It measures approximately 9 x 10 and should be on my Etsy later today.

This has been a disappointing fall for us here in western PA. With all the rain I had to keep postponing the new roof I needed, but finally last weekend in the miserable rain a group of amazing men laid my new roof. Who knew you could get so excited about a new roof. It looks great and I am ever so grateful for the wonderful job they did on a nasty rainy day.

I would bet that most of you love fall as much as I do. For me it's that wonderful time of year when the hot days of summer are over and a warm fire, a cup of hot tea and your favorite hooking project make for a special time. Tomorrow one of my best friends and a hooking buddy, Sharon, is having a wonderful fall luncheon for a group of us hookers at her beautiful log home. Can't wait to see everyone and discuss our favorite subject. I hope that wherever you are that you are enjoying a beautiful fall day too.
